There's always the standard concave layout where the scape is done higher on both sides and center portion is empty, or lower.
My main problem with hiding the equipment is that it also tends to interfere with water circulation in the tank. Why not just hide the input and splurge a little on a Lily Pipe output from ADA?

The drawback of hiding the pipes is it would be harder for you to do filter cleaning and servicing.

You can also hide it behind tall plants or maybe cover it with moss.

Hiding pipes normally would most of the time result with the output blowing the tall plants around into knots. The spraybars are IME BBA magnets and ugly IMHO.
Planting in low in the tank would mean priming the canister a pain to do.

    Thumbs up for lily pipe!

besides lily pipes is there any other way to effectively hide filter inlet/outlet without blowing plants away?

Or else you could get a ripoff of Lily Pipes from aquaticmagic. It's called the Flo pipes. been wanting to get a set of those but I'm still trying to save up money for that, cost a 'half-bomb'..
