Very nice!! Pehaps some fill flash to fill out the under side will show the full and true beauty of these fishes.
Somehow, they look very familiar. Where have I seen them before?![]()
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Will try again with a tripod for the fill flash the next time.
Of course you seen it lar.![]()
Wah...nice fishes Madagascar rainbowfish.Still are young freshies eh ?

nice rainbow fish and great photography![]()

nice flare, I think need a bit more light and hey don't feed the buggers so much before shooting. especially the male shouldn't have such a big belly.
btw I think it is B. geayi. not sure what the B. madagascariensis looks like.

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Azmi originally name them B.geayi. But then came along some folks from don't know where during Aquarama and told him that it is B.madagascariensis. So, I also don't know what it is.
And I agree with the bulging tummy.Shot them with your voice in my head telling me the same thing.

B. madagascariensis seem to have a longer snout, if you trust the pictures online.
I used to have a small school of them... Real Cool looking Fish.. Very Different from the Rainbows we normally encounter.. Unfortunately mine all Died when my Tank got a dangerous case of Velvet back on 2005.. Lost 15 Yellow Congos, 6 Normal Congos and 6 Mad.Rainbows... Total Wipe out..
Maybe someday i'll keep them again.. The LFS in choa chu kang still has them for sale.. just saw them this afternoon.
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!

Haha, I was just about to post this.
I think Choy is right, could be B. geayi. How many anal rays are there? I counted about 18-19(?) anal rays.

vince, we need you to starve the bugger back to normal shape and take more pix. I think a bit more light is needed.

No problem. Will be glad to do so.
Hi, is this fish available commonly in our LFS? If yes, what's the usual trade name for it?
And whats the best tell tale sign that its this species?
Thanks!!

I see them ocassionally at shops like C328,Polyart,Wuhu. Most LFS refer to them simply as Madagascar Rainbows.
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
