How low can the fan bring down the temperature to?
How low can the fan bring down the temperature to?
Wouldn't that depend on how powerful the fan is and how the fan is positioned? Depending on the manufacturer's claims, it's probably 1 to 3 degrees lower than ambient temperature.
If you want to be confidently sure, get a chiller instead. In the long term, it would be a better investment.
Yup, it will bring down the 3 degrees.
Having said that, with a chiller, the temperature will be stable which is important for the survival and breeding of CRS. But if you are staying at a high floor and is windy, you may be able to achieve 24 degree, this is what nephew is experiencing..

hi taygu hows your tank? how many crs and what grade? im keeping grade B and A but using fan.. im also considering chiller too..
I have only grade A but as mentioned earlier, I have only 5 left from the 11 I have bought. Will have to get the chiller first before I buy more again..
Another problem is the CRS does not seem to be interested in any food I fed them..

what chiller are you considering?
Looking at CL280 or HC150A, read through the forum but did not get a consistent feedback on this 2 chiller. Some say CL280 good and other pefer HC150A..

Hi Taygu,
I am using CL280, however getting a bit noisy after using for 1 year...![]()
im having my CRS tank in my bedroom and using HC150a. so far to me there isnt much of a heat issue maybe cos my room got good ventilation. only when im next to the tank admiring the CRS then i can feel abit of heat as my chiller is below the tank. other then that dont really feel anything at all. noise wise i feel its quite quiet. only time there's a slight noise is when the chiller stops but it won't wake me up from my sleep.![]()

I am using the hailea 150 now. It is a really quiet.
My suggestion to you, whenever you are using a chiller, you need to ensure your setup can sustain good water flow , else your will kick very frequent and reduce the life of the chiller and higher power bill.
Right now I am using 2213 for my 2ft with the chiller, I feel the canister is under power for the setup, also to reduce # of chiller kick in and delay the kick in, I setup an external thermostat to control the chiller. The internal thermostat set to 18 deg c.
