    Hi all,

just bought the above from NA in Thomson last Tuesday and had set it up for use in less than a week. Noticed lately that it's LED lights keep on flickering when it's on (this is not noticeable during the first few days of usage). Tried to switch to other power sockets & adapters (thinking that it could be due to bad/ loose power connection that caused the flickering, but still get the same flickering effect, which is very disturbing to the eyes...) As this lightset comes with a dimmer feature, is such flickering of the LEDs expected or something is wrong with the lightset?

Anyone bought this lightset also lately & facing similar problems? Dunoe if can bring back to Chan for an exchange (no receipt was issued as paid in cash to his wife last week...)

    Regards.

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

does the flickering occurs at certain dimming level or at all levels? any flickering at full output?

flickering is an issue for some led lighting design. usually happens at lower dimming settings.

you should check with chan since you bought the light set from him.

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

Thanks tawauboy, but the flickering occurs at all level of brightness (i.e. especially so if I set it to the max brightness & don't touch the dimmer anymore...) As using it on my Nano tank inside my mum's room, she's affected at times by the flickering of the LEDs when the lights are on as programmed via timer... Sometimes, even I myself have a slight headache after seeing the flickering for a while (as if like those days in Zouk or MOM like dat... )

Thanks ghim, didn't have time to bring it back to him yet, thought of giving him a call to check up the issues first (anyone got NA/ Chan's number?). The only time can go down will be this weekends, don't know if can still bring down to him to troubleshoot/ exchange since it's already more than 7 days since purchased last week...

Thanks tawauboy, I'm also puzzled with it... Maybe I should take a video shot of the flickering & show Chan when I bring it down to check with him...

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

I bought one over last weekend, it does not flicker at all at any brightness setting, so yeah, that is not normal behavior.

That said, I am very happy with this light, great lighting solution for a nano, and the price is not bad either.

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

Sigh, finally got time to go down NA today (unplanned, so didn't bring lightset along) about the LED lightset... Spoke to the lady boss & she helpfully tried to call Dymax's agent but cannot reach. So she told me to bring down the lightset the next time for an exchange... Looks like have to make another trip down tomorrow...

Sigh... Hopefully the new one don't give me problem like this anymore...

Hi bro, thanks... Are you an agent representing Dymax? That's really good post-sale service if this (getting your guys to replace 1 for me) is true... Do you think you could PM me for details as I can't PM you at the time being... Many thanks!!

Sigh! Fuzzy, guess you were more lucky than me then... I like the design very much also (as compared to the other one by Qianhu at a fraction of the price... but prefer Dymax's design more... ) Keeping my fingers crossed that the replacement set I get don't give me anymore problems...

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

I really like the dimming features as well as the directional cast you can adjust by tilting the light to give it that natural sunlight effect. Visually, they are also quite bright.

I am using 2 on a nano tank with surface area of 6"x6". I am not too sure if this is sufficient for plants with moderate to high light requirement - but my preliminary observation is that my surposedly low-requirement Sagittaria Subulata are not as vibrant as when I first accquired them.

I am using a 23w Compact Flourescent tube in the meantime to encourage growth in the initial setup period.

One thing to note - if placed too close to the water surface especially with mild splashing, the 4 screws on the LED panel will rust. I quickly coated the screws with a thin layer of oil.

Re: Dymax Robot LED (Clip-on lightset)

Just tested the Dymax Robot LED on my cube garden mini L...visually it is indeed bright enough & i like the part where i can adjust the brightness. Think it is pretty suitable for a low-light plant setup
