IMO, this is part of the process.
When the moss is introduced to a new environment, it needs to get "used" to the new conditions and some parts is sure to die off.
Once it is used to the condition, it will "recover" and starts to grow again.

I suppose it depends on the tank conditions.

Anyway, give it a few more weeks and be more patient....

Your tank seems fine to me. Moss are generally not demanding plants. Maybe you can give it more time to adapt to your tank water.

Moss grows better in cooler temperture and with CO2. Why not get healthy moss and start again.

I also just started growing moss, had the same problem during the first two weeks, was gonna remove it then suddenly I saw some green bits at the end of the moss "stalks", now after about 4 weeks they are green and nice. I started a moss wall two weeks ago, now most of the moss looks like yours (brownish) with very minimal growth, must be patient.

I think it normal especially if the moss is the emersed type or due to heat from handling/transport. If you held on to the moss for too long, heat from your hand damages it. Right now, can still see green bits, this means, it can still make it. Just be patient for now.

    Hi

I just do WC this morning, saw some small green bits come out from the moss. Really nice, really amazing, the small green bits is oustanding color, light green.

But most of the parts still brown in color. Will wait and see how...

    Be patient.

Moss is not a plant that grows leap and bounce within 17 days. Don't harass it and leave it alone for a month. Like dinosaur said, it is in its adaption stage and it is part of the process of withering and growing back. See some bright green tips is sign of growing. Give it a month and the green bud will be on every tip and next thing you know you have a bush of moss.

Brown turning colourless is likely to be melting down, my guess.

Bro, i think you bought a poor quality moss from a lfs... the moss probably is at the lfs for some time without lights and water change...next time look carefully before buying the moss..

    Cheers
