Hi Eugene.. nice body colouration however, the indent on the head and the body length is a little suspect to me.. hope its just the camera angle.

Just my straight honest view as you are to me, an experienced hobbyist.
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

Haa..thanks yorky, but not as experience as you.

Valice and i once discuss on locality difference with respect to head shape. However, we could not come to conclusions.

I raised this issue with Mike Wise as well. And he mentioned that it could be more of husbandry, food, genes and not so much on locality.

But, yah, seems like there are different head shape seen so far.

    I'm keeping a pair of this...not as red as eugene's though =)

they've bred 3 times for me so far since July-August, but each time i hand itchy change water and caused the eggs to be eaten...furthest i've gotten is to wriggler stage, where even topping up evaporated water caused the female to eat her wrigglers.

there's a separate thread with some not-so-good pictures of my fish here:

haha i'll let you know if i successfully breed them =) the parents are precious to me, and i think only time i'll let them go is if i get a pair of wilhelm ones in the future =) i really like the colours on this male...not as red as eugene's, but he has a nice body/finnage/tail shape and lots of blue irridiscence =)

elizabethae are really very beautiful fish, to think i started off not really liking them!

Breeding Apistogramma Elizabethae is not impossible...It's really easy..But the difficult part is to have the brood to grow up to adulthood...And the most difficult part is to have good off-spring from the parent pair...And the most difficult part of breeding is getting a balanced ratio of gender...The next species you should try is Apistogramma Diplotania,Apistogramma Mendenzi and Apistogramma Paciquamis...Think you will like them..I promise!!
