can you grind it into powder form and mixed into tank water ?
got white feces from the fish ?
could be intestine problems.
CHeers..
I have a fish with suspected internal bacteria (not eating and slightly sunken belly). i've been recommended sera baktotabs as the best treatment for this, but my worry is that the fish won't even peck at the baktotabs since it isn't eating anything. is there any other effective cure for internal bacteria, and will it harm other tankmates?

haven't been able to observe its poop yet...it doesn't eat so i don't think it has anything to pass out anyhow =\

do one round of de-worm and monitor first.
intestine bacterial is a major problems.
btw, is your fish discus?
CHeers..
nope, it's apisto =) easier for me with discus as i know the medication suitable for them...with apistos i'm a newbie so unsure what treatment to use

ok. all fish medication is suitable for all fishes with similiar disease![]()
do a round of de-worm and monitor. hope is just normal internal problem.
CHeers..
do i have to isolate the fish or is it ok to just deworm the whole tank?![]()

Isn't there an equivalent of Baktotabs in liquid form? I think it's Baktopur.
Edit: There is Baktopur and Baktopur direct. Baktopur is liquid form, Baktopur direct is tablets for where you disolve the tablet in the treating tank.

depends on whether the medication WILL AFFECT your filteration system.
i always "medicate the whole tank" in-case the disease had spread.
one tank a fish with medication and a tank full of fish with medication is still same water volume and same amount of medication apply, why waste it![]()
Always take note of your filtration system when applying medication.
CHeers..
i have activated carbon in my filter but i'll remove it when applying the medicine. thanks for the info Interestor and Quixotic...think i'll make a trip down to c328 tomorrow to purchase the medication.
if any apisto gurus read this and know if the direct to water form is ineffective/harmful to apistos please let me know =)
caught the female taking a poop today and sadly, it was white and fibrous. i've begun treatment using a medicine recommended to me by a guru here...will update on how the medication goes next week as it's a 7 day process
I'm on my 2nd dose of the medication (3 doses recommended) and it seems to be effective. the fish is more active and i've seen it start to eat dried food...belly is still slightly sunken though - it probably needs time to bulk up again? haven't been able to observe its poop yet.
hopefully by sunday i'll have confirmed good news and share this "confirmed working" solution for internal bacteria![]()

will wait for your update
![]()
as of last night the female was doing black/brown poo in nice solid form instead of white/stringy poo...i assume that means internal bacteria problem has been solved? she's eating too
medication is 3 doses, will probably complete all the doses to be safe just in case the bacteria isn't fully dead yet...don't want a case where she gets infected again with bacteria that is resistant to the medicine, like what happens to us humans when we don't complete our course of antibiotics

true, actually is good to have extra/extend dose of medication for confirmed healing![]()

Yi Xiang,
What the medicine that you use?
it's a japanese medication called "Miracle baby" that comes in a white bottle with a green cap. the auntie at c328 doesn't know the name though, gotta ask her for dewormer that is not ocean free haha.
it's a white powder where you put 1g per 10l of water in your tank, change 50% water after 2 days...and repeat 2 more times within a period of 7 days. i was told it was effective and i've experienced that effectiveness for myself =)
Great. i'll try it.

Yeah, I go get some. Does the medicine has an expiry date??
