which brand are you using? I tried twice, different brand, and not happy about it. Hard to plant small plants on it because it is very light in the water. I think it is neutral, it does not change my pH and kH.
Hi guys,
Anyone use the above before? Any feedback on it? Would like to ask if it would lower the water ph? thanks![]()

With aquaclay, you have to wash it once, discard those peats that float up and drain the water away. Although the substrate may be light, with sufficient amount (usually about 1/3 more than others), you can plant your plants easily and probably easier than the others. The big benefit of aquaclay is that it very effective for planting anubias like nanas and downois without worrying about root rot. I personally like it because it is easy to plant fert sticks or tablets and it works well as biohome for bacterias, especially where the mulm settles.
I guess the one I used is different, mine is from Ocean free but forgot the other brand. It does not contain peats, ph stay at 7.0. The grain is large thus extrimly hard to plant small plants like glosso. In fact my glosso is dead on this clay substrate.
