Err... so this afternoon we went to the ADA store to pick up my CO2 replacement catridge, .... (long story short)... and we walked out with two pieces of ADA blackwood and a Mini-S. This is mostly going to be my wife's nano. I'm just pushing her along since my ADA 30-S is slow going...

It's going to be a low-tech. HOB filtration, CF lighting. Heavily planted with Cabomba, Rotala, Riccia etc...She currently has a 9" nano that will eventually be phased out into this new ADA.

I think she got a really great start, I'm quite jealous to be honest....

Anyways, here are some pics. The planting I advised her should be done a few days later after we went thru a few rounds of WC. As always, comments, criticism, plants list reccomendations appreciated!

YAY my own ADA tank !!! My current 9" nano is stabilizing, and thanks to Hendra I got sucked in into getting these ADA stuff....

ADA tanks prices are reasonable, especially when compared against their own brand of lighting. Consider this, U$160 for the Mini-S CF 27w...If it's a mini MH I might have be more willing to get it.

Speaking of lighting, is 2x9w enough to grow HC for a non-CO2 tank? Tank is 3.5g. I read somewhere that 2x9w does not equal 18w. If that's true, then the mini S really only have 2.5w/g. Is that enough?

    you are so right
its the same case here in singapore
i would much rather buy their tanks than their lights
comparatively the lights are much too pricey for me
although some other top brands like gisemann don't exactly come cheaper either

    Planted!

Finally planted the tank. Migrating most of the plants from the old nano (cabomba, glosso, hc, rotala red, java moss, and 1 more I can't remember the name ) adding rotala green at the background and curly grass sporadically to the flora.

HC in the foreground were not in good shape when planted, but most are hanging on and started sprouting new leaves. HC in the background were migrated from old nano, and still doing fine.

Riccia covered stones are not doing well. I think they died and need to be replaced.

Still need some more hc to cover the ground. Crazy glass shrimps are doing such fine job at unplanting my newly planted hc ...

Current sole dominator of the tank (plus 1 amano shrimp and 2 glass shrimps)

Old Nano tank, the plants, HOB and CF light are taken from this tank. pretty sparse now. Now two dwarf Gouramis that were meant for the Mini-S stay here.

Maybe this is going to be a uber-low-tech tank. Natural Light, no HOB and just water change...? Doable?
