Since the frys are there, just manually remove the hair algae to keep them in control.

    Benetay,

I would say that you need to find time... The main problem with hair algae is once it sets in firmly, its really difficult to get rid of. I recently succeeded in getting rid of it in my 5ft tank... but it was 1 month of neglect which resulted in more than 6 months of consciencious removal of algae (using toothbrush and fork)... very painful. Now I only have 1 more 2.5ft to solve

From experience, I've found that platies are quite effective against them (20 Platies cleared my infested office tank in 1 night). They also seem to like the oil-like layer on the surface of the water. Was told mollies too.

So is the honey gourami for hair algae.

But do not feed them fish food initially, else they'll get used to the idea that their new home comes with catered food. Once they clear your tank, they'll maintain it as long as you don't overfeed them.

Also read in one of Amanos magazine last night that the 3 lined Pencil fish is quite effective too.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

hair algae on the glass, I guess those are rather short hair algae, about 1~2cm? If so, dun bother about them, it can act as additional food for your frys. Scrape them off of the glass after your frys are more stable.
