I have 2 tanks with similar setup, yet one of my tank has pregnant cherries dying on me all the time, each time they are bloated with eggs they die. It is a real hard pain situation for me. The only difference between the two tanks is that I have 12 ember tetras, 3 dario darios in the tank and my light is going at 6500k. I cannot seem to understand why. Does anyone here have a solution?

So you mean you keep cherry shrimps in both of your tank? Are your other cherry shrimps affected? They could have been attacked.

Maybe you can provide more other information, ie; added any new plants, tank parameters, etc.

No new plants, in fact there hasn't been a change in the last month, just the regular feeding. I add a cap of nutrafin lushgro and 2 caps of Seachem excel a week, feed hikari flakes to the shrimps and Dr Bessler's biofood, Ocean free XO supercolour and live moina for the fishes. I do water change once a week, anti-chlorine and peat extract. pH is 6 and temp is normally 27 to 28 degrees, touching 29 on hot days. I will try to upload a pic of my tank up by end of the week to give you a better view.

    Hi,

Not only the fishes will eat up your shrimplets, the fishes will also stressed those shrimps in the tank if there is not enough place for shrimps to take cover (e.g. moss).

Had too many growing in one tank, so I had to shift some of them into the other.

i've been keeping shrimps with schooling fishes in 2 of my tanks without any problems. I have about 16 vietnamese minnows coupled with god knows how many shrimps in my 2ft tanks.
Though i have lots of trouble with my badis badis in one of my tanks as they're extremely aggressive towards my shrimps. Could the same problem have happened with the 3 darios you're keeping inside the tank hence the mysterious deaths?

Will advice that you use ADA Soil instead of all the liquid stuff.

Anyway, if you reali really plan to breed your shrimps then keep it just with otos. No other fishes as all other fishes will attack the shrimps especially when they are breeding or when they change shells.

Maybe, since you had 2 tanks then put all fishes in one tank and leave a tank with just the shrimps and otos. Then you will see alot of shrimps in no time.

Dont change water that often as it will stress them up which is not needed.

    Sam ...

Currently, some of my Cherry shrimps are pregnant for about 3 weeks and shrimplets could be seen in my 1ft tank.

Fyi, I have 60+ peaceful fishes like Boraras species, T. epsei, C. margaritatus & oto together with cherries in a moderate-heavy planted environment.

Imo, the key points are small peaceful fishes + environment = should be safe for cherries.
