Sorry for the late notice but there will be an exhibition and talk at the Botanical Gardens tomorrow (2nd of August). The exhibition starts at 4 pm. At 4.30 pm, Professor Tomas Hallingback from the Swedish Agricultural University will give a talk on the history, design, transformation, preservation and the scientific significance of the world famous garden built by Linnaeus in Uppsala, Sweden. All are invited.
If you don't already know, the name Linnaeus refers to Carolus Linnaeus, the Swedish biologist who laid the foundations for the modern scheme of nomenclature. He is known as the "father of modern taxonomy." He is also considered one of the fathers of modern ecology. 2007 marks the 300th year since he was born, hence the exhibition.
He's the reason why we are known as "Homo sapiens". Come listen to the talk. I'm sure it will be interesting.
