Meanwhile, get your filter media ready. Play with the driftwood. Visualise where best to place the tank. Caress and whisper sweet nothings to the tank. Get the pipings and pump ready.Plan what plants to get. Where to plant. etc.

everything in with the light set and co2 set $1300. Plus media, substrate, liquid fert, flora and fauna: about $2k.

in the end, i didn't go for the IOS as it is too costly to customise these days with the unstable glass price. But my next tank(coming soon) will be customise.

    Yes. the price includes everything.

I am trying to make a 6x2.5x2.5 braceless but it seems that is not achievable.

    try this link. www.theglassbox.net.

2.5 feet deep? that means you are using MH lamps?

    Hi Stephen,

Slightly OT here, but since we're talking about tanks and the thread owner don't seem to mind...

Why would braceless = no lily pipe?

I would strongly advice you have braces for a tank that size, perhaps can do euro-bracing, can always get the tank maker to drill holes on the braces to facilitate pipings.

big braceless tanks are possible. just need thicker glass and better silicon.

just wondering, why customise tank with IOS or Sump filter? My understanding until now is Sump and IOS filter will causing CO2 lost. Of course CO2 is quite cheap so some people probably don't really care.

for sump, increased water volume = more stability in the system.
co2 loss can be minimised with relatively simple adjustments.
better if the setup is for non-co2.
greater flexibility to change setup too. planted to marine to aro to planted to etc etc.
    Cheers,

I have discuss this with the tank maker put it seems that the lily pipe can fit through the holes in the brace..

I also wanted brace for a tank that size..Looks like i have to forget about the lily pipe liao..

maybe, I'll make a big insulated Stainless Steel pressurized tank and use it like a canister filter...

ps this is for my 3ft tank

Isn't that even worst? now you lose more CO2 and you did not inject CO2 to replenish it.

Can't the marine tank using canister filter?
