My friend has a pond outside the house, recently there has been froggy activities happening....the problem is my friend cannot tolerate the loud croacking noise of the frogs at night!!

Any creative solution to eliminating the noise?

Oh it's simple, you must get a cat or a snake....and then they will eat the frogs...

Reminds me of my NSF days prowling pass the fields I can hear thousands of toad noises.

I don't know what to do. Toad traps?

Cats wont touch the toads at all because they taste REALLY bad.. so after the bite.. toads release toxins.. cats give up. Snake is illegal in singapore and not all snakes will touch the toads we have at home.

best is to physically remove them..but then again.. they will come back one.. they are smart like that.

How big is the pond? Maybe your friend might consider a large predatory fish like an arowana? On the other hand, there may not be any thing that will eat those toads... (ask Ranma).

I wonder if some fishes might eat the frog/toad eggs. Large ones like kois? Or perhaps carnivorous/omnivorous plecos?

Aquarium salt? Depending on the types of fish he has, they may tolerate low levels of salinity. Amphibians have low tolerance to salinity and it may drive the frogs and toads away permanently. Come to think of it, aquarium salt is often used to treat diseases and parasite infestations like white spots. I guess the fish are unlikely to complain much. I still recommend he does his research regarding his fish before trying this.

The problem is that he will need to do a large water change to bring the salinity down again, and that may mess with his pond's bio-filter. Acceptable risk if he does not mind making a few moderate water changes over a few weeks/months, and then let rain water dilute the rest overtime.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
