Hi,
Try Mr Fish at Joo Chiat Road...
Last recall that he had a Backdrop of this plant in his 8 ft display tank.
However, Pretty expensive....![]()
Are u refering to the lance shaped narrow leaf java fern? If so, it is very expensive. Currently I have one in my tank, once it starts to grow plantlets, I will give the plantlets away. Watch for my posting.![]()
thanks.
Hi,
Allow me to sidetrack a little. I've regular Javaferns tied to 2 driftwoods and I bought it from Petmart. Been a few months and they seem to have those black specks on the leaves and don't seem to be growing. Am I missing something ? My water temp is around 29 deg, 3+w per gallon and other plants are doing fine. I'm using hortwort on the surface to limit the light.
Javaferns are supposed to be able to send "runners" across the driftwoods and grow new plantlets from there right ?
Does it needs rich CO2 ?
Thks.
The black speck should be the spores, you will see plantlets growing from those black specks. That is what happening to mine.

Javaferns do not send out runners. They do have a rhizhom which does not 'run' but 'creeps'... very very slowly. You'll never notice them grow... cept maybe in a few years. New leaves should develop from the existing rhizhom though, if conditions are favourable.
They propogate by growing plantlets along the edges of the mature leaves... which you can easily pluck off.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
wks is right, it's very expensive and slow growing
afaik, it's not very co2 intensive, but likes a moderate kH value
