having some problems with my tank. some of my Ludwigia arcuata starting too melt as i plant them under the shadow of my bogwood. I had to remove some and replant the rest at the open.

Found some worms i my tank also, i just put in a feeder fish. Hopefully
it will eat up all the worms.

maybe will add some Anubias nana 'Petite' in also.

    Hi Chee Yong,

It's time to trim your plants. This will help to grow them. You have all the "weapons" to promote plant growth right?

    Nice tank.

    regards.

Actually i already trimmed the rotala a week or couple of weeks ago,
now already quite bushy. But my Didiplis diandra and Ludwigia arcuata did not grow well so that part of the tank is still newly planted.
will need to wait for the plants to grow more nearer to the surface before i do another trimming.

Ya with "the weapons" really hope i can grow up the didiplis diandra.
still having black stems. i really don't know why.

    Hi Nicholas,
I using JBL Viper 70W MH clip on light using Osram Daylight bulb.
might change to AstraLux 8000k bulb.
For filter i am using Ehiem Pro 2224.

Sounds like poor CO2 to me.

no la, just ADA liquid fertilizer and some other stuffs.
actually mine Co2 is around 3bps, i am wondering if my filter 700L/h
causing alot of surface movement and so Co2 is not properly diffused ?

Try getting the diffuser below the lily pipe output and blow the mist around the tank good. It should pretty much rule out the CO2 issue unless your CO2 rate moves around. You are only dosing ADA nutrients? Not sure if ADA ferts have PO4 in them or not but our tap is seriously lacking in it.

Some surface movement is fine, just not a torrent. What is your drop checker filled with? Standard 4dKH or 5dKH solution?

Site selling the 4dKH standard solution for drop checkers

You can try the above link website for purchase or a less accurate method of using distilled water + baking soda to get a estimate KH of 4 or 5 dKH with the help of a KH test kit.

No worries with that. The design of a ADA lilypipe is fashioned such that the CO2 bubbles that are on the surface of the water will be drawn into the outflow by the spiral. As a result what seems to be wasted CO2 on the surface is drawn back into the water.

As for the L.arcuata, they are emersed right? Reason for the suggestion to do trimming is to remove the emersed leaves so that they wouldn't rot and cause pockets of ammonia to form.

For the D.diandra, in the past when I was on EI and having good CO2, I have the same problem of black stems and breaking off. And it seems to be largely due to lights. However, I can't confirm that.

L.arcuata is emersed, i will take note , should be do some trimming this weekend.

D.diandra , i also suspect lighting. maybe MH light is too focus.
Using more T5HO tubes maybe will be better ?
But last time i saw in a LFS which no long in operation grow D.Diandra using lapis sand + base fert and FL tubes. with great success.
But i didnt manage to figure out how he do it.

I've also seen Green Chapter's D.diandra growing very well too. Using 2x150W MH on a 3x2x2 tank. Very compact and red. Really can drool at them.
