Happy Chinese new year.
Lasy afternoon update with my lousy camera.
any comments or critiques are welcome.

Thanks.
I "hand itchy" already did quite a major trimming on almost all the plants.
The growth for the L.arcuata is not so fast compare to the R.rotundifolia & Rotala sp "green" so its quite out of shape.
Maybe after Chinese New Year , i ask my friend who owns a DSLR to help me take a good picture![]()

wah read from the first thread and all I can say is that it turn out really well!! love the effect of the plants...
Can really see what 6 months can do to a tank... the matured tank is so beautiful!

Beautiful scapeMay i know whats the foreground plant that you have?

Very beautiful.

the foreground plant is Utricularia graminifolia![]()

Excellent Setup~!I like it a lot.
What's the lastest specifications for this tank (eg. lighting, filtration, fert regime, co2 ppm etc) ??

Now my setup still not very ideal, as i having hair algae and i finding a right balance for Co2, lighting and fertilisation.
Now my Co2 should be 5-6bps, lighting i just add another 36wPL so now is 108W ( i know its very high light , just experimenting) dosing brighty K 1ml
ADA lights 2ml ADA Step 2 1ml, green gain 3 drops, green bacter 3 drops and ECA 3 drops per day. 50% water change 2 times a week.

Share with us once you are able to find this balance. Are you using EPI to help with co2/dosing/lightings ?

More light is going to worsen the issue since you haven't got a handle of things yet. Remember that photosynthesis starts with light and that is the driving factor behind uptake of CO2 and nutrients. Lowering the light will lower demands for CO2 and nutrients and make targeting the sweet spot easier since it's a bigger range rather than that of a narrow range with very high light. Think non-limiting CO2 and nutrients with respect to the amount of light for a start. It's plant physiology 101 really...

ya more light end up more problem.........
will reduce to 72w....
need to trim my plants again to remove the algae.

Peter,
Many thanks for sharing, it makes perfect sense. However, when you indicate more lights, do you refer to duration or intensity on it being a driving force to uptake on both nutrients and co2 ?
tcy81,
Let us know the outcome once you reduce the intensity of your lights.

the 36W is only added for a few days to see if the intensity of redness would increase ?
but before it show any results, algae blooms occurs....
Now the algae have reduced and much improve.....
But to my horror my Ehiem 2224 suffer a leak last week, after change the o-ring rubber still leak.... had to run only hang on filter for a few days....
Now i using a 2026 to filter my tank![]()

?? eheim also can leaked![]()

Yes, the 222X series can leak once the o-ring is dry. That's why the sets comes with a tube of vaseline. Just spread the vaseline on the ring and it's done.
They overcame this problem in later models.
