Here's my 4weeks old 1ft tank. Not very clear photo.

I'm no good at aquascaping. I hope this is a good try.

    Tank specs as follows,
    Substrate: GenX
    Filtration: None
    CO2: None

    Flora:
    Echinodorus sp. (plantlets)
    Eleocharis acicularis (Hair Grass)
    Eleoharis vivipara
    Rotala rotundifolia
    Windolev fern
    Limnobium Laevigatum(frogbits)
    Hornswort
    Red tiger lotus
    Java moss+spiky moss
    Hydrocotyle sp.

There were some problems with the windolev ferns rotting a while ago. After removing the rotting parts, they seem to be ok already. Also the hairgrass has not taken off yet.

    Fauna:
    Taenicara candidi x 01 pair
Nematobrycon palmeri (Emperor tetra) x 02
    Nannostomus trifasciata x 01
    Otocinclus x 02
    Nannostomus eques (juvenile) x 05
    Copella nattereri x 02

Water change: 50% once a week.
Dosing: A few drops of Wondergro macro and micro after water change.

I do know the bioload is on the high side but the fishes are doing quite well so i've no problems with that.

    Feel free to comment. Thanks.

my tips for planting ferns to avoid rotting leaves
i cut all the mature leaves
left only the stem part and tie it to wood/rock whatever its supposed to be tied to
abit ugly initially lah but after a while it will adapt and grow new leaves

Oh. I just cut off the affected leaves and parts of the rhizome and roots which are rotting. Now can see new shoots coming out.

if you bought your ferm from LFS, it is normal for fern to rot because it was grown emerse.

Oh ok thanks a lot. I didn't know they were emersed leaves. I'll cut off the rest of the original leaves today.

I want to get an Eden 501 but can't seem to find it anywhere near my house. So far seems like C328 has it. The water seems fine with the 50% water change every week.

As for branchy driftwood i got them from Go Nature which is near Aquastar Y934 in Yishun. I saw even nicer ones at Biotope. Think is the so called ADA dw if i'm not wrong.

You cut it all? Isn’t that a bit extreme? How will the plant photosynthesis without leave? What if the plant do not have enough nutrient storage to start new leave? Although I'm not sure if emerse leave can be use for submerse photosynthesis or not

I never try this methot before, may be try it next time. It is also easier to tie without leave

recently only c328 has the original eden501
the other places mostly selling the replicas like shiruba or seven-star

very branchy dw several places like y618 and c328 got sell
but those will leach and will float
so have to do some extra work to make them usuable

yeah biotope has the good ones, but stock limited when i went there
will go again end of month to check for new stocks

Nice tank you have there, Lim. Do keep us posted of the updates.

BTW, I may be going to C328 next weekend (25/8/07) or the following week. SMS me if you need me to get Eden501 for you.
    Cheers,
    U.K.Lau
