    Hi,

Need some information on Nannacara Adoketa.

    1) What is the breeding size or age?

    2) How to differentiate male and female, besides the size?

    3) the lock jaw fighting is normally happening between the 2 males or 2 females or 2 different sexs?

There isn't many information on this fish. Hope to get some expereience from this forum. Thanks in advance.

Just a note that Nannacara adoketa has been moved to a new genus. So it is actually now known as Ivanacara adoketa.

Hey, my question is where did you get the fish?
I've been trying to get this fish recently but no luck..
Maybe I didn't search hard enough.

Any idea where I might be able to get?

I think the number of hobbyist keeping this fish locally is small. The fish is not easy to come back and the appeal of this fish lies more on it's rarity than it's physical traits.

Prices of this species seem to back crept up recently and be prepared to cough up a tidy sum if you are looking for a pair.

As for breeding age and size, I believe it should be about 12 to 18 months, or about 4 cm and above.

The males have very much longer dorsal fins. Coloration also differ during breeding season. This species are known to be very, very aggressive. I believe francis once told me that ideally, a pair for a 4 ft tank if you want to breed successfully. Yorky has a 3 ft community set up in the past and they've laid eggs too. Mickthefish (based in UK) is by far one of the more home successful breeders around.

Here's a picture from a long time ago...

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Hi,

I got them from Hong Kong. I believe mine are all less than 1 year old, about 4cm for the biggest one and 2 cm for the smallest one. I keep all 4 of them in a three ft tank. Recently saw the 2 medium size fighting in lock jaw and now preparing to split them up.
