I used lapis sand in my 4x2x2 tank. The fertiliser and sand are close to 2 years old. I had inserted root monsters, amongst other tablets types of fertiliszers, into the substrate. I am wondering whether is there a way to rejuvenate the substrate enmass without uprooting the plants. Thanks.

Monster Root works more with plants of newly trimmed roots, thus encouraging root growth. I will suggest Root Stick instead if you are talking about enriching the substrate for nutrients uptake via plant roots.
