I am keeping cherry shrimps in my 1 feet nano tank without any problems. Just using fan to bring down the temperature of the tank. I intend to keep Crystal red shrimp and if possible breed them. According to the LFS uncle, he told me that a chiller would be required for CRS to breed.

Can I know what is the experience of other CRS breeders. Is a chiller a neccessity to breed CRS? Please advice. Many thanks

I will highly recommend you to get a chiller.
I start off keeping CRS with fan only, though they survive, but expect colour lost and stressful CRS.

you can count me in, i too have the sentiment of trying a crs tank. What is the ideal tank size, temprature and the food needed.

Successful breeder out there, any tips?

    thanks

There was someone in AF forums who managed to breed CRS in 27deg and there was a thread on it.. but then again, it's probably 1 sucess story out of the many many failure ones. I used to keep CRS without chiller and without fail there was at least 1 casualty per week. After I redid my CRS setup and added a chiller they kept breeding like rabbits..

Just a thought.. we all know CRS needs to be kept in low temp 24deg - 26deg.. Anything higher will make them stressful, so how will they even have the mood to breed when half the time they're trying hard to survive?

I knew that CRS needed a cool environment but did not know it is within the range of 24deg-26 deg. Thanks for all the advice. I will start looking for a chiller.

Regular Water Change (Using Aged water that has been de-chlorinated) every week (Around 10%-20%)

Good filtration (My choice Canister) You need the water to cycle around 4 times the volume of your water... I kiasu I'm cycling around 2000l/hr

Temp as per Koonac (Mine is at 24 as I'm using a chiller)

Use a good subtrate like ADA / Magic Soil / GEX etc... It lowers the PH...

CRS like PH from 6.0 - 7.0 (Mine is 6.8 & I trying to lower it to 6.5)

Tank size I would say minimum a 02 footer... The higher the volume of water the better to control the water parameter... (I using a 03 footer)

I'm just sharing info although I'm new to this but I've been following anything on CRS for around 14 months...
