Maybe the plastic bracket hitting the fan metal causing vibration noise. Try stuffing a piece of folded paper in between to act as cushion.

Just wondering if anyne have this problem? I just bought myself a Ista Fan and have attached it to the side of my tank. I find the vibrations created by the fan is quite loud. Anybody facing this problem?
