Roughly how much did you pay for your Mr cool and from which LFS did you purchase the item Jaws?

    Welcome to the Cool club

I have proven that it will lower water temperture by 2 degC. Mine was 28 degC before using and now it constantly maintain at 26 degC

It has done a great job... cheaper than cooler and don't think there is a need for a cooler for small tanks 2ft and below.

I got it at around $35 after discount. Cause I bought several other items so price not very accurate. Its from Seaview at Jalan Kayu btw.

    Off topic.

A very noob question. If I throw a frozen mineral bottle into the tank to cool down the water further, will my fish die? I have some guppies, dwarf puffer and oto in it.

how big is your tank and how big a bottle of ice are you going to throw in?
cooling the tank and lowering temperature is good for the plants and fish but too much of a good thing can turn bad

they might suffer a temperature shock if the change is too big
secondly the temperature will rise as the ice in the bottle melts until you replace with a new one
the constant temperature fluctuation is not good either

I don't think it is advisable to throw a frozen bottle into tank directly. The cooling effect is not even... water near the bottle will be freezing cold

    All fishes will run away

I am extremely happy with Mr. Cool. It works really well lowering temperature by 2 degC. Design looks cool and nice as well... I never like the look of PC look-alike fans hanging on aquarium tanks

Although the price is a little pretty, I think it is worth the $$

    Thanks for your recommendation

agree with daveteo, with ice bottle, I think it is more of the uneven distribution that may be a problem...

speaking of which, my oversized chiller for my 2ft, keep moving temp between 25 and 27, every 15 minutes or so... and the fish look fine

Don't understand why chiller will cause temp change between 25 and 27 degC... thought chiller is supposed to keep the water temp more consistent than fans??

I have 2 tanks... one is 1ft cube there other is 3ft. My cherries are in the 3ft tank. The bottle small small mineral water bottle type. Thought this will be good for the shrimps and plants. Worried for the fish only.

Today bought Eden501 for my cube. Almost perfect together with the Mr. Cool

Agree that Eden 501 and Mr. Cool looks perfectly together... I had 2 Eden now and I think I need another Mr. Cool fan

I don't think it is good to put a frozen bottle directly into tank water... bad for the fishes
