Best plant for 6ft?

Hi guys,

What are the best and cheapest plants to create a huge plant mass in a 6ft tank? No consideration for asthetics at this moment....

Tank: 6 x 2 x 2
Lights: 4 x 6ft T5s (10hrs a day)
CO2: Internal reactor...
Filtration: Eheim 2028

Hi,

You can try the following:

Hygrophila difformis (personally I think it is not a very nice looking plant), Blyxa Japonica (it will grow into a nice lush bush if given enough time and nutrients) or Echinodorus Quadricostatus (reported to be fast growing)

Why do you need huge plant mass? Suggest you think about the 'exit strategy' as well - how easy would it be to removing the plants when you do not want them anymore.

Can consider some floating plants as well, such as Water hyacinth?

My friend just wants plant mass in his tank.....don't ask me why...he says his tank is too bare but don't want to go into expensive plants and aquascaping

lots of ferns (java, windeluv, needle leaf etc) tied to big pieces of wood.
background plant one whole row of vals. then amazon sword plants spread all over the tank.
all cheap and hardy plants.

Yes, Hygrophila difformis is the same as "water sprite".
Oh yar, like what Melvin mentioned, can also go for ferns, but generally these are more expensive if they are pre-tied to the pieces of wood.

Get large leaf plants like water lilies and family: tiger lotus, Nuphar japonica, etc.

Else get large amazon swords. For shorter plants, cheap common hardy crypts like C. wendtii.

Gan once had a tank with just N. japonica with altums or cardinals. Looked quite presentable, though simple.

Try Echinodorus osiris or other Echinodorus species.

Saggitaria subulata also easy. Creeping plant and will spread all over the place rather fast. And when there's not much space, it grows taller too.
