Congrats Bro, nice pair.
Got this pair 2 days ago. they were in quarantine.. now i put them into their new home..
After looking around for so many months i have finally found the perfect pair for me.
i hope they will breed once they've settled down
.. i find the red on the male to be really really red.
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
Congrats Bro, nice pair.
congrats bro, is this the pair from C328? i found one pair there which was insanely red. i mean nowadays, its quite hard to find such intense colouration already. i would have bought that pair if i had enough tanks

it's not from 328
it's from my neighbourhood lfs

If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!

Care to share which LFS is it?

If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
ok, thanks
Very nice Caca you have there. Too bad CCK is too far for me. Would love to go take a look at their Cacas and Plecos.
I would said this is one of the better quality specimen you have there.
Maybe it is time to pay a visit to the shop for a review

Reminder again, please stick to topic!!!
i've gone through 3 days of 70-80% waterchanges, Daphnia BBS and Frozen Bloodworms trying to encourage these guys to breed.
Nothing so far...
Last night the females showed signs of being in the mood.. moderately yellowish, prominent Black markings.. The male was flaring away at her... but as soon as she showed some form of interest...
the male chases her...
What am i doing wrong?
should i add some Kepatang leaves in the water to create a more leaf littered river bed feel?
would it help?
is my tank too small for them? 18 inch by 11 inch by 11 inch.
Running on a small hangover filter
Water is at 28 degrees constant
A little Fan on the surface
12 hours of Light
the substrate is a mixture of RootSticks RootMonsters at the bottom, some gravel, ADA Amazonia and Peat for the rest.
Infested with HairGrass..
Diy CO2 thus the mad algae problem... but it doesnt bother me...
the 2 otos inside seem to like it
5 Corydoras Habrosus (2 female 3 male)
2 Otos
1 pair or Apistogramma Cacatouides
I'm cycling a tank of the same size to move the corys to..
will be set by the end of next week.
So please my fellow AQ members...
any advice or suggestion is greatly welcome.
i would love to see my fish breed..

give them some time to get into the mood. from my limited experience, it takes at least a few days after the female shows breeding colouration before a spawn of eggs show... or in my most recent experience, the male might just not be in the mood despite the female trying her utmost to breed
3 days 70-80% water change consecutively might stress the fish out. usually to induce spawning 20-50% is enough. the constantly changing water conditions might be a stress factor imo
thanks illum....
i've stopped the water changes for now....
i think they've had enough..
lets give it some time...
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
i do two water changes per week of 10-30%... so far that has been successful in my breeding attempts.. but then again thats just my limited experience... cories could also be a hindrance... but nevertheless, i'm confident that your apistos would breed soon enough once they've settle down! all the best and do update us on your progress!

caca, add black water to tint the water brownish if you don't mind. Also feed them live food like BBS
can add peat moss too. that's how i got my first pair of caca into their brooding mood.

my latest tank makes use of ketapang leaves. they lower the ph and at the same time provides more hiding spaces for the fish...my pair of elizabethae love it, and it's cheap too...$1 will buy you enough leaves to last 3 weeks
