I bought a pair of inca last saturday and till today has not come out in the open yet, always hiding behind the plants. The female even dug a trench behind and stays there most of the time. (as least that's where they are when I am home)

If the female dug a trench, chances is that she spawned

when my bitae female did that (she spent 2 days digging a trench, then moved into a cave after), i saw eggs within a week...so keep a lookout richard! it sounds like she will be spawning soon, not necessarily now

    Stephen,
I think so, the body quite solidly (thick) built.
Any news from your caca pair? Mine bred and have 20-30 fries hiding in the cave.

    Stephen,
Time to do something drastic, lower the PH.
Can use peat or ketapang leaves.
But this two I use to help my discus breed.
Put some ice cube in, this is to simulate raining season.
Or use battery water, that's the distilled water you use to top up the battery in your car. This water is slightly acidic and will lower the PH pretty fast.

i was with stephen at C328 today and he got himself some peat, so i think he's got ph lowering covered

stephen, forgot to tell you earlier...frequent water changes help alot. for that pair you have right now, the first time i induced spawning was when i changed the water 2 times in 2 days, 2nd time was also after a water change....

i'm not too sure about ice cubes as i've never used them, but richard is the pro breeder of discus so i'm sure his recommendation is good

Food is the key...loads of variety including live, frozen and etc.

Daphinias and some other forms of live food are pretty safe. No tubifex worms....loads of parasites except for frozen disinfected ones.

Think live food & water changes with low ph environment helps to induce them to spawn.

I know live food and water change will induce spawning. Like my endlers also.
