somehow the hair algae on their cave makes it look a tad bit nicer..

If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
From the shape of the caudal spot, it would most likely be a A.viejita. But in the domestic strains, there are alot of cross breeding between A.macmasteri and A.viejita.
Even in the wild, there are specimens caught which have intermediatary characteristics as they are pretty closely related and often found in the same locality.
i would say viejita.
macs are usually broader and bulkier.
anyway, try this site where the same question have been asked many times over

Nice catch. That's a nice pair of viejita.
Looks like my pair.
You are very lucky, every time I go down to
328 I don't get to see such nice fish.

Look like there is a spawn with you. Well, whether its a Viejita or Macmasteri anot is not important. What important is you must like the fish. Well they look like a pair of macmasteri to me.
yup most important thing is you like the fish that you own. i like your fish too!update us if they spawn....
