Use the one from Interpret. The new one was very effective. I just pour the whole botter into my 5 ft and white spots were gone in 2 weeks. Good Luck!
Some cardinals has white spots in my planted tank that has rummy nose and corys (Sterbais/Pandas) and SAEs.
LFS recommended a treatment with the NIKA brand. The active ingredient on the little bottle says : Anhydrodi (P-Dimethylamino) triphenylmethanol.
Just want to see if anyone knows whether this affects plants or corys.

The WHOLE bottle ? How big is 1 bottle ?
the one from interpet will kill shrimp
using salt is safer
1 tbsp per 5 gal (15ml per 20l) will do it in 1 wk
Can I dump the salt directly into the planted tank ? I got difficulty in catching the fish lay. []
DISSOLVE IT FIRST
never dump salt directly into the tank
when you're adding the salt solution into the tank, add small portions and take care to mix it in before adding the rest
Guys
I'm inclined to think that too much salt is harmful to certain plant species, particulary the red Nymphea rubra (lfs call them tiger lotus?). My experience has been that everytime i increased salt level to ward off disease, my Nymphea leaves would lose its red coloration and turn translucent. Rotting at the stalks would also occur.
I think Windelov ferns also don't do well in salty water![]()

So, the best way is still to catch the affected fish out to cure.
some very sensitive plants
but my lotus were never affected
and windelov are very hardy, salt shouldn't faze them in the least
catching the fish out has pros and cons
you can provide a more controlled environment, yes
but you might stress the fish beyond the point of no return, which defeats the point of treating it
it's up to you to decide whether the fish can make the transition to the hospital tank
I agree. Catching the fish out proves fatal for me. My fishes died on the next day whenever I do that.----------------

Welcome to visit my-blog
i used Sera Costapur to treat white spot in my small 1.5ft tank and it worked. didn't affect my plants, fish or shrimp either. within a few days of adding a little bit of the med to the tank water, the white spot totally disappeared. i just did a water change about 3 days after medication with no ill-effects to the tank inhabitants and plants.

Hi there Stormhawk. Till today, will you stand by your last statement in this thread? If yes, I'm gonna get a bottle of that tomorrow!

Ok. I bought it and used it. White spots disappeared in 5 days flat! I will cease treatment tomorrow, change water and switch to salt treatment for 1 week.

All along I've been using Ocean free's, work fines when i had hardy plants. Tried it in my 1.5ft with pearl grass and yamato and the next day, i see dead yamatoes, rotted pearl grass and smelly water. Only dosed half of the recommended.
So i am back to the primitive ways and after 5 days, white spots cleared. Up temperature to 29 (water usually at 25 in office with heater) and little bit of salt. Water change every 2 days.

in my 3 years of keeping fish, I only got white spot once. (when I still had an aro, some minor fish got white spot).
I believe its due to a uv filter.
eprouve, hehe, it works eh? but do follow up with a water change and the works.![]()
