Most filters come with a powerhead already. For 2 feet, I suggest a Eden 316 at least. If you use the 316 for planted tank, remember to remove the carbon pellets.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Hmmmmm vinz,
The advice from others is that, its more then enough and suffienct for my 2ft rock setup tank.
What u suggest in this case ? Thanks

Trevor
Rocks only? No plants?
Then a larger filter better. You need more bacteria to convert the ammonia and nitrites to nitrates.

Forgot 1 thing.. I`ll be keepin 2 A.Cockatoo inside with it. No plants. Maybe i cycle the tank longer ? Any suggestions cause im new to this and don really wanna planted tank due to time commitments.
Thanks

I see... well, if you're going to stick to only 2 fishes, then the 304 is ok, but a 316 is safer and gives you more leeway if you decide to add more fishes (or your fishes have babies). But do change your water regularly.
I find that smaller fishes feel more comfy if they have some plants. If you have low light, throw in a Java Fern or a Anubias. They are really no hassle plants as long as there isn't too much light. Duckweed or frogbits are good bio-filters. They'll do fine with ambient light from the window.
I acutally have an image of Sagittaria or E. Quadricostatus between the rocks, which will look quite nice, but it'll need more care, fert and light.
I think its pretty safe to put the fishes in about a week after setup. 2 fishes does not produce a lot of ammonia. And the tank can't really cycle if there's no livestock or plants inside. If you want to play safe... throw in some fish food when you setup the tank, leave it to decompose and let the tank cycle for about a month.

** Yea only 2 fishes, Hmmmmm, but isit really neccasary for a eden 316 once my apistos spawn ? Im not gonna add more fishes lor. Just the 2 of them, their heaven man.. Can i like, when my fishes spawn. And i do water change regularly ?

Yea, i also think the same way and maybe others out there. Small fishes feel comfy with some plants. But problem is, i think makin diy c02 is alot of hassle. Lazy la, not much time also. Not forgettin i don have fert in my tank. Isit possible to have some hardy plants that need not have c02/fert in my tank. MAybe with light alone. Don mind name a few pls. Thanks

Ooo..post it here.. Lemme ogle and funtasize..lol.. if need more care i cant give it man. Abit can la..

I'll choose a 316 for buffer, though a 304 seems reasonale enough. Your choice...
Java Fern, Anubias can survive without CO2 and fert. Floating plants can get CO2, nitrogen from the air. Other nutrients from fish food, fish waste.
Take a look at the 'Newts 1' tank in my website. Anubias which grew huge with many leaves, some java moss emersed on the driftwood and Hydrocotyle leucocephala (I think) which grew wild. Only 4 newts, 1 foot FL, no fert of any kind accept frozen blood worms and newt pee, no CO2. Eden 316, irregular water change (once in months).
Sorry, I meant i have an image in my head.

***Ahh, advice given to me that for Apistos. A rock setup is superb. In other words like, very suitable la. At first i was suggested by my buddy tat wood and rock don really go well ? It's those kidna rock i bought at tiong bahru. 1kg $3. Layer by layer mocha coloured kind.
Should i put in some wood ? abit worried coz fren said wood and rock don mix well. And erm.. I don quite understand what u mean by,
"Floating plants can get CO2, nitrogen from the air. Other nutrients from fish food, fish waste."
Thanks.

Duckweed and Frog bits are floating plants. They do well cos they can get CO2 and nitrogen straight from the air, so no need to inject CO2 and no need to worry about lack of N from low fish load. Other ferts like P, etc will come from decomposing uneaten fish food and fish ****/pee.
One possible reason wood and rocks don't go well is that tannic acid from wood makes the water slightly acidic and may corode the rocks. I'm not sure of the details.
Anyway, if I'm not wrong, Apisto's come from an environment with low pH and wood in the water. Simon will know better.
