Right and left view of the male

Think its a Apistogramma Agassizii, hope I'm right at the name. Got it a C328. Please commend on the finage and colour so as I may learn. What are the attributes to be noticed when selecting at lfs?
After taking their photo, I now undertand how difficult to take a presentable photo of individual fauna....need the patient and reflexes of a sniper as the fishes just won't stay still and say 'cheese'.
Photos taken with my used to be sibei takong 3.2M pixel which takes forever to reload.
The male has been chasing the female.... hopefully its because that the female is in heat.

Last but not least, the female. Which is way much more difficult to capture as the male has been chasing her skirt...Please pardon some white dirt floating which is invisible to the naked eye...

it is an Apistogramma Agassizii.
From the picture, the apisto looks not bad.
Need more pictures of it flaring for further comments.

Thanks for the kind comments Nicholas. I'm on a lookout for a small mirror to provoke it to flare.
Nice A. agassizii. Why not share a photo of the entire setup.![]()
Hope they breed for you soon.
Hi limchongyu. So its you whom bought a pair recently from Biotope a couple of weeks ago. There was this pair which I was looking at.... really gorgeous. But as its my 1st attempt and gave myself a cooling off period before making a second trip to confirm the sale...saw your name on the tank.... Mr Lim Chong Yu. Next time I really need to be fast leg, fast hand.
I've snap and post a pic of my whole setup next week as I'll be flying off later this evening. Nothing much, just a humble 1ft cube.
Yup thats right. Actually I pm-ed Mr Thio of Biotope and asked him to reserve a pair for me.![]()
Yup. It's definitely Apistogramma agassizii. Nice pair you got. By the way, for fish photography, try not to clean your tank with tissue paper before you shoot. It will leave those tiny white fibres all over your tank. Use a cloth instead.
Last but not least, welcome to the dwarf cichlid community!!!
Cheers,

I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Aquaculture,
Congrats. That's a nice pair of agassizii.
My first pair of Apistogramma was also a agassizii, but that
pair has since pass on due to inexperience in Apisto medication.

Just a note on the usage of scientific (Latin) names: the genus (Apistogramma) is always capitalised, while the species name (agassizii) is always in small caps.
Therefore, it should be Apistogramma agassizii instead of Apistogramma Agassizii instead.![]()
nice pair you've got, may this be the first of your many pairs of apistos yet to come!

It more like a APISTOGRAMMA cichlid CULT. That particular breed of fish is rather captivating.... sorta addictive. Will surely set up more tanks if my wifey doesn't make much noise...
Thanks for the kind commends trident. Its my virgin trial...I'm just lucky that the feedback has been good.
Thanks Quixotic for the highlight... I'm not so well verse in scientific terms... I'm merely a noob.

For no apparent reason. The female died on me...I'm wondering if its possible for me to pair the male up with a female caca since caca are more easily available.....
nope, you won't be able to pair a female cacatuoides up with a male agassizii. perhaps you could try asking at c328 or biotope whether or not they're able to sell to you an agassizii female?
Thanks for the advise illumnae.
sad to hear that yuor female die. very nice male you have there, hope you can find a female for him soon
No luck on finding a female so far....![]()
so sad![]()
you can try and post at classified and see if anyone got a female agassizii for sale.
