I used to keep a lone Crencichla regani. Quite a lively and active fish. It was a contaminant from Gan's Fish Farm's South American shipments.
Have not seen them around. Any recent sightings?
Cheers,
Well, this is like delving into uncharted territory for me.
Anyone has experience in keeping dwarf pike cichlids of the genus Crencichla? For example Crencichla regani or C.compressiceps.
Don't think they will look good in a planted tank. But they are found in the same locality and ditches as many of the Apistogramma species.

I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Have not seen them in any shops.
Past sightings have been at Cichlids Forever.
But I am sounding out shops to see if they have the source to bring in. But then, there must be a market for them first.
What's the typical behaviour of the C.regani? Does it chase dithers like tetras around?
Not really. Being small in size, it behave just like other dwarf cichlids. It will chase other fishes occasionally when it gets territorial.

If i am not wrong, i have saw C.compressiceps at WU HU SHUI ZU aka 'Ah Ben or TB Ben' & That Aquarium (Y61.
BTW, LONGHU PETS ENTERPRISE usually carry some pike cichlids.
Regular pike cichlids are not hard to find as big fish keepers like them. It's the dwarf variety that's not popular here.

I thought I saw some C.compressiceps at C328 last week?
ck
was there just now. Looks like two males with the strips on the caudal tail.
They're pretty scarce over here as well, other than C. compressiceps. I've been looking for C. regani and C. notophthalmus for awhile now without any luck.

if it helps, i saw quite alot at polyart aquarium. but that was almost 2 weeks ago. not too sure if there's any left. you can try your luck there![]()
Now Polyart have Orange Pike cichlid. I dont know is it consider Dwarf pike cichlid.
WOohoo... It should be small now in the shop, but that fish goes up to 30cm when fully grown.
Actual name is Crenicichla sp "Xingu" according to Aqualog.
