The web got information for the 2 species of Rams(commonly known as Bolivian Ram and German Ram) and comparing Gold Ram and the other Blue Ram of the Mikrogeophagus ramirezi species. So far i still cannot find a site that compare German Ram with Holland Ram.

The pictures on the Internet may not be reliable, because the owners of these pictures/fishes may be labelling Holland bred rams as German rams. And vice versa. As mentioned before, the names German and Holland rams are being used interchangeably and indiscriminately.

Unless you can find and verifiy that the pictures of German and Holland bred rams are exactly what they are... In any case, visibly, there aren't any major differences that you may notice between German/Holland bred rams. Many would compare them via colours (more vivid, more colourful, more blue, more gold etc) but IMO, differences by colours are not entirely the most accurate.

If you really wish to see one, go to Biotope, ask Thio if he has any imported German bred rams to show you. Then compare them with Singapore bred rams - the normal variant, not the balloon variant (which Biotope would sometimes carry). Not sure if they have Holland shipments though.

Also, keep in mind that for these farm bred fishes, there are other aquarium variants e.g. Gold, long finned, balloon blue, balloon gold and so on.

On a side note, I just read that LFS in UK, for example, do label them correctly, i.e. German bred rams are German rams, Holland bred rams are Holland rams, and Singapore bred rams are Singapore rams.

Thio has both german and singapore bred rams available as of 3 days ago, so it would pay off to go take a look and take note of the differences
