very nice pair you've got broi was admiring the red-blacks and was very tempted when i went down to check out the new shipment, but ended up making another purchase instead.
all the best with your pair and i hope they breed for you soon![]()
Hi just wanted to share a picture of my Apistogramma agassizii 'Red-black'.
This is the picture of the male. Not a well taken photo really and the male seems to be more orange than red here.
And here is the setup.
Unable to get a photo of the female as the male always chase her when she comes into his view.
There seems to be no sign of breeding activity so far between the two though i've seen the female and male inspecting the cave once. They don't seem to find it suitable though.![]()

Your A. elizabethae was great. But i can't afford them.
Anyway a pity i didn't get to say hi to you during the gathering.
Nice setup. Looking good. Looks of orange could be due to strong lighting penetrating the fins.
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
Thanks. I'm going to add more leaves. The apistogrammas are grabbing the tetrabits and bbs greedily.![]()
Nice... Whats that black piece of equipment you have at the back right in the middle of the tank? Sorry, I every noob.

I left about 20min after you arrived that day. Had to book in that day for the next day's army half marathon.

Yup its a normal sponge filter.

Eh just like any other filter. To filter the water.
The other filter i place Sera super peat inside to lower water pH.
haha icic...i think i heard you saying you had to leave...i vaguely recall someone saying he had army half marathon the next day. oh well, regardless you got yourself a very beautiful pair of fish, and i hope they'll bring you much joy![]()

Guys, I split out the discussion on the leave litter here: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...d.php?p=268488
We can continue discussing the maintanence aspects there. We keep the discussion on Chong yu's beautiful fish here.
Lim Chong Yu,
Nice Apistogramma agassizii 'Red-black'.
Richard
Thanks iwishweallcouldwin and Richard for the compliments.
I'm wishing they would spawn soon. Hope my twice a week water changes would do the trick.
My female is now in breeding colouration, bright colours with a black dot on the flanks and very dark ventrals.
Hoever the male is into hiding, does nayone know why? Whenever the females sees the male she chases him and he swims away, the exact opposite of what was happening before.
I've just found out why the female keeps chasing the male away. A closer look at a driftwood cave the female keeps returining to reveals a clutch of pinkish eggs!
The female has decided to take on the job of protecting her eggs by herself and is alternating between the cave and coming out to the open to chase the 2 golden tetra.
I've also removed the male who has tattered fins because the females seems intent on killing him
congrats on your spawn. that's quite standard behaviour in a spawning pair, where the roles are reversed and and the female chases the male away =)
Oh. The last time my cacatuoides managed to breed the female only chased the male away after the fries were free swimming.
This time the agasizii female spends half of the time outside the cave patroling before going back.
Really hope this spawn is successful.![]()
