wah eddy.. rock placement is getting better and better!!!! cool!!
now for some depth creation..![]()
Hi all,
This is my new 4ft, after the old tank centre brace gave way. I removed and washed and dry ADA Amazonia soil for re-use. OHKO rocks soaked with bleach to remove stains. While waiting for new tank, brought new ADA soil and special powersand as base fertilisler.
Tank specification:
120x40x55cm
Matrix PL 55wx4
CO2 5 litre pressurized tank via external reactor
Driven by Atmen external canister filter
Water cool by a fan.
Plants are
Rotala Sp 'Green'
Rotala Rotundifolia
Echinodorus Tenellus
Cryptocoryne Wendtii brown
There are some Rotala and Ludwigia species I not sure.

Very nice, how about some glosso at the side foreground to even the contrast of the height, but I keep the centre part bare.
Well done Eddy! Very nice layout of rocks. Wait till the background plants grow in and form thickets and it will be a fantastic sight
Any choice of critters?

Thanks guys, yes the rocks placement is very tiring but rewarding when you get it right.
What I did was to place the bigger rock and sub-place smaller ones around it to make it looks bigger. Alot of trials and error approach and because the tank height is 55cm I want the rocks to stand tall.
For now planting glosso is out because when they creep, it will mess up the fine sand.
By the way, this set-up is 3 weeks old.

bro, you are master on rock placement![]()
Hi Eddy
So the fine sand is in front. ADA soil and power sand are at the back only. Very nice rock scape.
don't worry, be happy
Thank you guys, still learning always. Yes fine sand foreground (very cheap) and ADA soil+powersand (very costly) at back.
Bro, let me know if your fine sand start bubbling, float to surface and pop-up and dirty the plants. That what happen to my fine sand, my guess is some algae cover the fine sand and when it is doing photosynthesis it generate O2 and start to float.
My only solution now is taking it out and soaks it with H2O2.
No, the fine sand dont scatter by itself or float up. It might be shrimp or fish that disturb the sand.
Nice rock placements. Really like how it stand out in the sand but feel like something's missing. Ah, fishes and shrimps are missing!!![]()
Good rock placement. By the way, I heard people said that this type of rocks will affect the water PH, is that true? What is your PH level after you put the rocks?
Nice set up ! Do keep us update please.
Eddy
Love the tank. the only problem i had with my set-up then, was BGA. It will be wonderful to learn whether you have that problem.

HI guys and today adding 10 yamoto shrimps after climatilize them by the slow dripping method.
luenny; I am considering a school of Harlequin, Red Rasbora but not sure.
Also had added 6 otocinclus and some cherry shrimps earlier on.
Brian; I am not sure whether adding the rocks affect water PH but had
tested water PH reading as around 6.5 before adding the algae crews.
Ahzai; Thank will try post later.
Wasabi8888; No, so far no BGA, hope not. When set-up plant en-mass the
first day to let plants absorb nutrients. Change water weekly
and do not dose fert. If low plant mass for a rockscape then use
carbon etc. to remove ammonia+change water weekly.
The idea is to grow the plants not algae. Also I had a mature
filter running ready.
Hi eddy,
nice rock scape that you have.. a more eye-catching appearance. your substrate brightens your scape. also, without the foreground plants, your rocks attract the viewers' attention.

Looks great Eddy! I'd make a road somewhere in the middle but that's just a thought.
Interesting that you put the red plants at the side and the green ones in the middle.
