I have come across a shop selling marine fish. He modified the surface schemer by sawing away the top. So the whole height is shortened quite a bit. It can actually fit into a small 2 ft tank. What do you guys think? Will affect the flow of the tank or anything?

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
