My wife SMS me with this message "I caught the culprit!"

I quickly called home to check what was going on but only to hear her laughing hysterically. The culprit in my tank was caught redhanded. Never seen her so excited about my tank . Not a bad photographer, isn't her. One hand holding our baby & the other hand holding a camera .

After observing the tank for few hours, I noticed that the giant MTS (about 4cm in lenght) is working hand in hand with the Denisonii! The MTS loosen the plants from the substrate before the fish grab on it, make a U turn & that's it. Great combination to do the gardening work, isn't it .

Anyway, I'll let the nature takes it's course. Denisonii is just too beautiful to be excluded from my tank. In fact, I wanted more of them in my tank. Too bad that I do not have the luxury .

    @ Jervis,

That's a great idea. Guess what she said when I told her that I'm going to buy more of these. She suggested me to get just another one (very stingy finance minister) & make them a pair. That way, they'll breed & produce more . I still can't stop laughing when I post this . Anyway, she's a wonderful wife. I can't live without her.

    @ Blue33,

Not too sure if feeding them more would help to prevent this from happening. They produce tons of waste . I fed my fishes only once a day, which they finished it in less than a minute. If I would like to watch them snatching for food, I'll drop in some more for for another minute . I'm doing this to cut down the waste (not that I'm stingy).

    @ Ikuzo,

You are right! I was also suspecting the Denisonii but just couldn't justify it as it had been there for almost 3 weeks before the incident happened.

Thanks for the compliment, Ikuzo. Thanks God (not forgetting my persistence wife) that she managed to sleep through at night after 7 weeks old . Otherwise, you will see my tank in Marketplace .

    @ Route,

I falled in love with this fish when I first saw it @ Biotope more than a year back. Back then my biggest tank is only 2 footer. I don't want to loose this fish. Let the nature takes it course. Miracle may happen .

Now, let me share with you (not showing off. Nothing amazing about my tank) the beautiful Echinodorus flower & plantlet.

See, the smart culprit is looking for publicity .

I am *speculating* that the single Puntius denisonii is way too lonely, and therefore behaving erratically. As with schooling fishes, they do a lot better in groups, and tend to "behave" better too (think Tiger barbs). So it may be worthwhile considering getting more of them, 5 or 6 at least.

On the other hand, it seems as though it may not be eating enough, which is why it is picking up food from the substrate. And barbs do appreciate some amount of plant matters in their diet. So perhaps, more frequent feedings (in small amounts), inclusive of some green stuff will distract them from your plants.

    Disclaimer: Mileage may vary.

I've 2 in my tank, it seems that they always chasing one another and other fishes. They always feel hungry, swim like Torpedo so fast, like its name called. They really need a big tank!
