Just bought the Sera CO2 test kit out of curiosity a few days ago. Followed the instructions are mentioned in the paper and found the water turn green upon dropping the 3-4 drops of solution. Left the kit inside the tank but kept wondering why the kit does not change colour. Hence, I did a test on tap water which should have little or no CO2 present in my mind. To my surprise, the solution turn dark green (enough CO2 indication) instead of blue? I think something is wrong? Anybody face this problem also? Or should I stick to the pH and KH test.

I am using that. It is pretty reliable.

If I don't remember wrong... dark green/blue: not enough CO2, green: ok, yellow: too much.

It takes about 1 hour for the kit to react to the CO2 change.

Mine was bought at Nature Aquarium previous day....The expiry date shows 01/01/2007 so hard to see why it cannot work? The fact is how can the solution show dark green for tap water?

I think the water in the tester and the water outside must be the same. I.e. before testing with tap water, reset the kit using the tap water.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

i'm also using the test kit,the reading seems ok the first time i used it,few weeks later the color started to fade so i redid the whole preperation procedure with 3-4 new drops, the indication seems to be a little off,the color indication like not here not there one, somewhere between sufficient and too much...but the co2 dosage has remained the same thruout both tests...my guess is it has something to do with the amount of the liquid u put in and how much air is trapped under the kit thingy.

mine doesn't seems to work too... always light green w/ co2 on/off.
i went for a one to one xchange.

do a water change, sees if it's change color.
at this moment, mine seems to be working... i hope.

you can check with the dist... www.aquarium.com.sg
there's a number to call, tell them about this co2 test kit.
the marketing side will tells you what to do, at least you can go for one to one xchange.
