    Hi,

Have been trying to keep rams in my tanks but after a few days, they just died. Can share your experience in keeping rams e.g. the number of rams permitted in a 2ft tanks, the PH level of the water and the temp?

Care to provide more information on your tank? And how you introduced them into the tank? Also what you feed them.
Many reasons could have caused them to died.

Generally, they prefer slightly acidic waters. but most Rams are farm-bred, so they can tolerate neutral pH waters pretty well too. Temperature is not much an issue for farm-bred fishes.

I personnally have kept 2 pairs of Rams in a 2ft tank before. Squabbles do happen once in a while between the two females and two males. But nothing deadly.

    Hi,

Previously, i intro 2 rams into my 1.5ft tanks with inmates like angel fish, cardinal tetra, golden tetra and molly. However, after a few days the rams just died of unknown reason. the food i feed them consisted of brine shrimp flake and betta basic food.
Recently, just bought another pair. Just keeping my finger cross.

Unlikely that the cause of death was due to the inmates. Rams are quite aggressive to me. Your tank sounds a bit crowded though. I'm keeping a pair right now and pH is like 6.4 and temp. around 22 - 24 degrees. They've spawn too. Relative easy fish to keep. Eats every form of food I fed.

Comparatively, I would consider angelfish to be much much more aggressive than rams.

In any case, let us know how many fishes are in the tank, if it is a planted tank, what filtration are you using (type and brand) and how did you introduce the fish. What you mentioned is too brief for others to help determine exactly what went wrong.

i have 27 fishes (4 angel, 3 rams, 5 marble molly, 5 cardinal and 5 golden tetra and 5 oto). It is a planted tank with a canister filter model Jebo 825. Planted Peacock moss, nana and tape grass.

    Intro
Place them in the bag and submerge in the tank for 30 mins, pour the tank water into the bag and keep them in the bag for another 30 mins before relasing them into the tank

The bioload seems to be okay for a 2 feet tank. Have you done any water condition tests, just to see if there are potential problems, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?

My feeling is that it could be a combination of weak specimens and their introduction into a new environment. It's hard to conclude anything though.

Oh yeah, how is the new pair doing? I assume you have introduced them into the tank already.

Sad to say, i start off with 5 but now left with 2. But they seem to be very active and healthy. Thanks for the advice, i am also wondering if it is the PH problem as my filter uses ceramic rings which is making the water more alkaline, will do a check on it.
