Boraras spp, safe for shrimps.![]()
Seen a lot of fishes that are way smaller then shrimps, almost shrimplet size over at polyart in clementi. Anyone care to share experience regarding these small fishes as tankmates for shrimps?

Boraras spp, safe for shrimps.![]()
I have boraras brigittae haven't seen them attacked any shrimplets
Ahh! That must be the ones i've seen!
They're very tiny fishes, looks harmless too.
Though they're on the pricier side?(Roughly a dollar + per piece?)
yes about that price.
Can ask for discount if buying certain quantity.
Mine is less than a dollar each. Moreover, from display tank.
I have kept 4 different types of boraras spp. B. brigittae, B. merah, B. maculatus & B. urophthalmoides.![]()
can blue lamp be put together with shrimp baby???
nope blue lamp massacred my shrimp when I introduced in..
the current fishes that I'm placing together with my shrimps (cherry) are... cory hasborous <-- spelt correctly? and threadfin rainbows... its fun seeing the corys interact with the shrimps...and of course nerite and ramshorn snails.. and ottos

i have tried boraras brigittae (or b. merah? not sure), galaxy and sparkling gourami with dwarf shrimps. ok with adult shrimps. but can't say for shrimplets though, especially with sparkling gourami which is more "fierce" as compared to the other two.
Haven't seen my golden white cloud attacking shrimplets so far.
saw one of my threadfin nipping on a baby shrimp.. but when the shrimp escape, the threadfin seemed to ignore it already... maybe its just curiousity
i have a dozen threadfin rainbowfish in my 2ft CRS/RCS tank. they spend all day in mid to top level flaring at each other. not bothering any of my shrimps so far.

If you want to see lots of shrimplets, then no fishes.
How about red barb, neon tetra ? Anyone has experience ?
With Humble Regards,

Where did you see the fishes at C328/polyart?
I have gone there a few times but cannot find those Boraras sp. fishes.
Can anyone posts some Boraras sp. picture (not zoomed in to compare size)? Are they smaller than shrimplet? hmm... > <
I've seen my boraras brigattae attack shrimplets, but mouth too small to do any damage, shrimplet just panics and runs away, hehehe
They usually leave them alone though, this shrimplet was for some reason openly swimming around the tank.
Full grown they are about the size of a large CRS, much bigger than shrimplets, but mouth too small to eat one. You will need to buy baby fish flake or food for these fish, they
will not be able to eat normal size pellets, unless you crush them before feeding.
I bought mine from Colourful Aquarium, Bag of 10 for around one red note.
My Yap usually has stock, but call ahead to check first.
Of the 10, I have 6 remaining, 2 died in the 2nd week I bought them very young about 1cm length, and 2 decided to check out whether life outside the tank
was more fun
I guarantee Neon Tetra will eat your shrimplets if they have chance, I bet red barbs will do the same, and may even eat adult shrimp.

Ottos are your safest bet!![]()
i think if you want small fish and shrimps cohabiting, it is still possible to have shrimplets, but you have to have a lush scape with sufficient hiding places for your shrimps. A nice hairgrass lawn is an option. I personally have a 2 footer with neon tetra, cherry barb, galaxy rasboras, sakuras, malayans and yamatos. The shrimplets hide in the hair grass until they are too big for the mouths of the fish.
