siphon the dying leaves out and wait for new leafs to appear. Crypts grows well when the water parameter is stable and left untouched and unattended

Not unless you want a buildup of ammonia and other stuff that will lead to algae growth if you have alot of fast growing plants e.g. stemmed plants which can absorb this elements up fast, it is wise to siphon them out. How old is the tank? any photo of it?

have you done your water change on the end of the 1st week? any reading to share? (pH, kH, No3 & etc) During this cycling period, while bacteria colonizes in the tank, you ought to be careful with such things like photo period, you wouldn't want a sudden algae boom.

normally i will only do a water change and measure all the parameters at the 2nd week. I will do a water change ASAP then.

Do more changes during the initial startup with ADA substrate since there is alot of NH4 in there and pack your tank full of plants (not necessary stem plants since more plants mean more uptake.).

    Are you using CO2?

Is there good current throughout the tank? Dead zones? Did you dose any nutrients for the plants? Frequency of dosing? There really isn't much things else. Crypts do melt a bit initially but generally they bounce back pretty fast if you give them good conditions.

Have you tried toying with the bypass switch? It is normally a yellow button located at the right hand side of the timer.

i'm using rainbar that extend all the way to the other side of the tank. current i will say it's good cause i can see those particles swirling around the entire tank but i might be wrong.

It's a week tank i haven't start any regime yet. isn't the base fertiziler be good for at least a good 2 weeks??? pls advise on this.

yup i've try the bypass, the timer is working as if the bypass is activated even when i set to timer mode. Anyway got a new timer. Word of advise, better avoid buying cheap timer. lol

Bolbitis heudelotii in my tank turned to dark brown looks like dying.

Is it because of my water temperature which is now at 28.6 degree?

It is normal when there is a change in tank parameters and when the tank temperature is abit high. I managed to grow them with only a fan.
Trim off all the leaves. They will grow back. They are like Nanas. The more you trim, the faster they grow new shoots. But must have the rhizomes left around.

Everything seems to be growing back, crypt starts to have new leaves, Bolbitis heudelotii also starts to have new shoots.

But water temperature is around 30.6 deg during lighting period. Kind of high even with fan isn't it? I have read somewhere in this forum, even with 2 fans the temperature shouldn't differ too much.

how is your fan position? it is angled blowing on the surface? perhaps you should position such that the fan blows across the surface through the light sets too. My 4ft is around 28-29degrees

okie i shall check it out... But that temperature is taken when the timer gone crazy and leave the lights on for 24 hours or more. So it might not be the real temperature due to prolong lighting period. And yes the timer gone crazy on me again.

Is 440 watt too much for a timer to handle? When timer spoil is it default to let electricity pass or shut?
