    Hi all,

I just wondered, does anyone know the reason for my ceiling light's (the circular type, with iron core ballast) tendacy to dim extremely fast after a couple of months usage?

When I change the circular tube to a new one (say, Philips extra bright longer life bla bla type), my room will be light up refreshingly well to the point I do not need a table lamp to read by.

After about a month or two though, the light loses its lighting power.

I know I can simply change the tube, but I'd like to know the exact reason for it dimming so quickly. Should I consider changing the ballast to an electronic one? Any literature for me to read?
