Kelvin, i know you are the expert marine person, but i really dun reccomend you feeding "snowy" tetra bits or beefheart!
They contain all the wrong fats and proteins i bet..
    Kelvin, how big is snowy?
    He looks rather thin..
I handfeed my SFE. There shouldnt be a problem with it, they dont actually bite you on purpose (if they do bite), but because your fingers will be coated in the smell of the food you are feeding the eel, it will presume your finger is also food. My SFE has actually crawled up my fingers, dont be suprised if yours does this..dont panic, and DONT wriggle your fingers! If he dosnt happen to bite, for gods sake try not to pull away...their teeth are designed to hold their prey, and by pulling away you will make the wound worse. Gently message the eels jaw with your other hand, or fingers...
Try big krill, they are smelly, and soft at the same time, my SFE LOVES them..also, squid and octopus will be loved.
Is yours a swimmer or not? Mine dosnt swim, but i can always see him..
Can you tell ive been researching a lot? haha..
Good luck with "snowy" (what a silly name! haha!)
Also, do you have a digi cam now, or was that a friends cam you used? If you have one, how about a full shot of the tank?
btw, when my sfe came almost all the way out of his lair, i estimated him around 14 inches...

i know that beefheart contains all the wrong fats.. so.. me contemplating abt doing so.. ahahha.. nevertheless, tetra bits is what i feed my marine fishes with.. and have been using it for abt 6 yrs already.. and top it off with lettuce as most of my fishes are herbivous, like tangs and dwarf angels.. and if i will to feed it with mysis shrimps, the silly eel will not get a chance to eat as the fishes would have snap up everything.. hahaha.. my friends said that my fishes are obese!!!

They contain all the wrong fats and proteins i bet..
not really, they contains vitamins.. which increase vitality

    Kelvin, how big is snowy?
    He looks rather thin..
he is abt 6-7 inches long.. so, still a juvenile!!!yes.. silly name.. but i really dun know what else to call it.. hahaha..

well.. like what BFG had mentioned, if i were to try, i would have to use my left hand... as i already got scars on my right hand when the lionfish lashes out at me..(it is not longer ard..) and i dun want it to associate my hand with food..because of this, me hesitate abt handfeeding it..

Try big krill, they are smelly, and soft at the same time, my SFE LOVES them..also, squid and octopus will be loved.
Is yours a swimmer or not? Mine dosnt swim, but i can always see him..
mine swims alot.. especially after lights out.. and occasionally, during feeding times.. and i can see that my goby is not too happy with its presence.. especially when it stole its lair.. hahhaha.. and i see that it is trying to get back its home.. and as SFE swims out, my goby breaks away and hide in another area.. hahaha...

Can you tell ive been researching a lot? haha..
Good luck with "snowy" (what a silly name! haha!)
yes.. i can see that.. and what u had mentioned, i know.. and like i mentioned eariler, getting too friendly can be a bit scary.. hahaha.. lesson learnt..

Also, do you have a digi cam now, or was that a friends cam you used? If you have one, how about a full shot of the tank?
yes.. got a digital cam for my birthday!! from my fianceee.. ehhehe.. full shot of tank.. nah.. i prefer macro shots.. i find full view shots a bit off spectrum.. coz nothing beats a real view of the product.. hahaha.. anyway.. those are excuses.. hahaha.. my tank is not up to standard.. hahahaa...shy lah..

nautilus is a kind of prehistoric creature of the deep.. and it is available for sale here.. and it is my avatar..and i dun mean that me is historic.. hahaha.. just that it is very beautiful... u can read more abt it online.. but i dun advice keeping it.. and it should be left in the ocean.. Have you seen your eel shake his head at the food yet? When he is trying to locate it?
Another thing, mine digs, and digs, and digs! I have this peice of rock that is flat, but about 3" thick that he digs tunnels under..very funny to watch.
Before i got the moray i had to make a decision - clownfish, blennys etc in a peacefull setup, or a moray and a lion..i definatly made the correct choice i think! However, my 2ft tank will be a peacefull setup...

Have you seen your eel shake his head at the food yet?
yes.. when the food is too big for it.. seems like trying to tear it into pieces.. think i will cut smaller pieces for it again.. btw, it is a pig!!!.. i fed it 3 pieces of half prawns..(errr.. dun know how to explain.. i cut up the prawns into halfs and use 3 halfs..) and then i fed my fishes with tetra bits..and it come out to look for the bits..

When he is trying to locate it?
i lured it out of the lair that it resides.. and it followed my fingers and just when i'm enjoying myself with the spectacular sight, i remembered BFG's warning to use my left hand instead.. hahaha.. then i release the food.. that's it.. using chopsticks or tongs next time.. scare already..

Another thing, mine digs, and digs, and digs! I have this peice of rock that is flat, but about 3" thick that he digs tunnels under..very funny to watch.
it is too small to do any digging yet.. hopping it will not do it.. it could be due to the fact that u have hardly any LR to start with.. that it cannot feel secure without a cave..

Before i got the moray i had to make a decision - clownfish, blennys etc in a peacefull setup, or a moray and a lion..i definatly made the correct choice i think! However, my 2ft tank will be a peacefull setup...
[b]well.. it is easier to maintain that.. coz they are rather hardy fishes.. me have to worry when it grows up..and all my clowns and goby are in potental dire state of being eaten up.. [:]

BFG, i dun have it.. it is almost impossible to keep those fishes alive.. and i definitely dun encourage ppl to keep it.. they are deep sea creatures.. and will not survive long in captivity.. i took that pic in a farm...

Kel, i have around 10lbs of Live Rock now...and lots of caves for him! Will also be getting another 10lbs soon..
He seems to favour this flat peice of rock though..with his head sticking out..Though, he does go into the holes and crevices in the live rock. The lion especially likes to "perch" on the live rock..

kel, how long has the nautilus been with u?
once in a blue moon seen it at pac marine but always reserved or not for sale.(but i also dun dare to try)
How much did u get it for & what u feed?
i've seen many reports,In captivity they not recorded to survive long- due to their natural environment- Deep waters & only come up shallow in the nite(that's why hard to get).

mez-they are ancient creatures,a piece of living fossil they are.
Btw- tetra bits quite good stuff as a staple(i use them now for F.Water as well as triggers, damsels & clowns- whatever that eats it).i went thru the ingredients, apart from soy meal(which is hard to digest by fish but its in most dry foods)the rest of the ingredients are ok. - Koi foods i stay away cause too much protein in it-
It won't provide the essential amino acids for growth in which u need meaty foods:adult brine shrimp/mysis/BW/squid....etc all the frozen or live stuff.
Almost everything i have doesn't get sick(apart from neons!argh!!)- & i get increased growth rate.Colours seem bright, mind u i feed exclusively on frozen(i go thru abt 6 packs a month)or live with a dash of dry foodstuffs only in the mornings before i leave for work.
A med size tin of dry stuff can last me a year.
