    Dear all,

    - I got another misfortune to share with all here again With my misfortune happening on me, I hope it will not happen to anyone with a Marine Tank out there

    - This concerned people more if they owns a Reef Tank. I have a Regal Tang (Blue Tang) in my Reef Tank and the same problem always arises when people have a Regal Tang - WHITE SPOTS

    - I went to PetMart to purchase a White Spot solution that will cure my Regal Tang but at the same time will not affect the Reef Tank. The sales personnel show me a White Spot medication of the Brand (Marin Cure), only $3.50. Blue color Box, something like the 'EyeMo' dropper size. He gurantees and assure me that many people have bought this solution and have safely used in their Reef Tank without any problem. I must say he is really convincing that causes me to make this almost fatal error......

    - On the Medication itself, it did not indicate what is the content that this medication composite of, but the instructions said that 'Marin Cure' can be used safely in invertibrate tank. One drop per 2 Litres. So, the owner told me to put 150 drops into my tank.

    - I bought 2 bottle of this solution, and in the Sun. Morning I add 120 drops of this solution into my tank......the whole Tank changes to Blue color.

    - Disaster started at this very moment I add in the Blue solution. The very first creature that I notice unusual is the Red Crinoid (Re Feather Star). The 'feather' starts dropping off bits by bits !!! Very horrifying ! All the corals 'shrink'.....but later blot to the point of almost explosion !

    - Immediately on the same day, I went to Lor Halus to purchase 3 Jerry Cans of seawater and do immediate water change. Things improved a little, but the corals are still blotted for some of them.

    - Today, finally the tank is abit more stablize, as a result of adding the white spot medication, my Red feather dies, 3 cleaner shrimps died, my clamp died.....sob sob....SO my advise to all, no matter what the PetMart owner said, don't try and use the 'Marin Cure' medications, cause it really have side effects !!!

    Lesson Learnt again.....2nd disaster oreadi

    Damn Marlin...

****...I so koe how u feel....man!!! It happened to me too in the past!!! That stupid bottle cun be used n DEFINITELY not reef safe...despite the **** it claims.

I dosed it in my previous tank too....after a day or 2...my corals opened smaller....my clam & sponge died....some of my white specimen corals got tainted blue...

All tks to that stupid medication.

Sorrie that it happened to u...from my lesson learnt, I think the best way to cure white spot is the slow n steady garlic juice! Soak food in fresh garlic juice for 30mins b4 feeding to fishes....white spot will be gone in 2 days...continue to feed them this for 1 mth or more...worked very well for me.

    Hi Marlin,

Sorry to hear about what happen...

But I guess solutions for many of our reef problems should first be checked and verified through at least a few opinions.....

That's why there are forums to ask questions and seek help before proceeding with the solution.

Marlin....I know how sad you are because I have gone through such disaster. Next time, use garlic juice. Really effective. For the past few months, I mixed the food with garlic juice and fed it to them. Now, I have stop for alomost 4 months and my fishes & shrimps are very healthy despite my high nitrate. Seems like they have culitvated a strong immune system in my tank.

By the way, have you searched the internet on who is the OEM ? Recently, I bought a salifer nitrate test kit from Hong Leong. When I went home, the instruction is in other language instead of english version. So I called Hong Leong but the ans is not very satisfying. So I went on further to search the net and found who is the OEM. I sent a mail telling them my problem. Immediately next day, they mail me a english version in pdf format.

Somehow, I find the customer service in other europe is better....

    Hi all,

    - Thanks for your consoledence and advises. Just to share wif something with all....Kelstorm have told me about using Garlic juice and soak it in the food to be fed then froze them.

    - Recently, I went to PetMart and has bought the Garlic Solution ($12, 250ml). For me, I took out the cubes of the frozen shrimps, mysis shrimps etc. from the frozen pack and put them into the Ice cube maker (where u put water to make ice) and I make use of a 1ml syringe to suck out the Garlic liquid from the bottle and insert into the individual ice cubes containing the food. Then I put it back and froze again. I guess this is a much faster and cleaner way of mixing the Garlic juice to the food.

    - Now, I am feeding them the food mixed with the Garlic everyday and all my fishes are feeding happily

    Cheers
    Marlin
