I'm baffled by those the winning entries. Really gorgeous... lots of tender loving care given to the scapes.

Especially like no. 7, seems to have a waterfall... and no. 10 resembles a lonely tree by a country road, nice place to sleep during reservist exercise

Haha. For me, i can't even decide which one is my favourite... all are so good this time round. The judges really had a hard time.

    Amazing stuff!

KF, my exact same thought, how did he create the waterfall effect. All the scapes are really nice, I personally like 1,4,5 & 10.

    Very inspirational designs.

The cotton wool scape was in 2006 IIRC. But think under the scoring system, any unnatural things used in the scape would be heavily penalised. So, he's position is in the region of 300+.

Looks like the gap between the region is expanding rapidly once again.

i find these competitions funny.. i mean using "artificial things"... what constitutes "artificial"?? isn't the entire scape we are trying to re-create "artificial"??

Seems like we have to conform to some "accepted" form of scaping in order to "win".

i was close to him..haha..because i had "artificial" leaves in my tank

This year for 2008..if i have time.. i will make a tank that "conforms" ...then see how.. but then again... i have never liked to conform to anything in my entire life..

I was referring to Gary Wu's 'waterfall' and I was 'wow!!!' when i saw it. Really like it . Great and healthy plants with superb photographic skill. The waterfall looks real. Robert, you got sharp eyes Unfortunately ranked No.425 last year. 'Waterfall' picture can be found here:

    http://www.cau-aqua.net/index.php?op...d=116&PageNo=1

I remember he mentioned somewhere how he created the waterfall.. Stormchild, you may be keen to find out more from CAU site.

Ok. Found it: 'The Secret Of Waterfall' :

My mistake. It's filter floss (wool?) and not cotton wool

Actually, there is already a discussion on the waterfall method. Mentioned is another method which uses airline and sand.
    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=33001

I was looking at the individual scoring, #7 scores a rather low of 97 with judge 13, Bernd Degen while Amano seems to like it with a score of 193 (out of 200). But generally the panel of judges are favourable to the "artificial" creation.
