Green algae developed in my tank

Guys,

Found some green batches on the sand in my 4' tank.
Is the light too strong ? Does CO2 place an important role
in developing green algae ?
My top filter also turn green. How to get rid of those ?

What kind of prawn help to control this ? Can i buy those
prawn used for feeding Lau Han ?

Any advice ? Thanks in advance

algae is a sign of unbalance condition... those green patches on yr gravel oso is cause by the lights, which is quite normal.. perharps u like to give us more tank info..

wat do u mean by yr top filter is turning green?

My top filter also detected green algae. Also spotted
some green algae on the ceramic ring in the filter box.

is it a slimy film, or short and hairy, or long thread-like, tangled together?

should be spot algae..

can scrap off those on the glass, and brush w used toothbrush for other hard to reach areas..

By unbalance condition, Simon means unbalanced nutrients.

Usually algae is a result of excess NO3, PO4, or both. If you have the test kits, measure these two. Guidelines are 5 to 10 ppm for NO3 and 0.5 to 1 ppm for PO4.
