Hi all! Need some advice please. When I turn on the CO2 supply together with the lights and leave it running for 2 hours or so, I come back later and there's a layer of bubbles on the surface of the water. Seems like the bubbles can't seem to escape!
Why is that so? Will it affect my livestock? Is it becos of the protein layer?
What should I do???

Got a surface skimmer? most like to be the protein layer. If your co2 bubbles don't break after reaching the surface, your water hardness sounds High. How's the fish n shrimps doing? Do have water change.. Got an email for you.[:]
How much is it and where can i get it? How do I use it?
Search for topic "surface skimmer". Cost around $30? Connect to inlet before filter. will 'suck' in oil layer to filter. How big is your tank?
but the problem is i'm only using internal filter for a 2 ft tank. Any other methods?
i have heard of skimmers powered by air pumps.. but im not too sure abt it
hmmm....i guess i'll just stick to swordtails and guppies....
Are the bubbles confirmed to be CO2? Sounds more like O2 to me, produced by the plants when photosynthesising.----------------

Honestly I'm not too sure if the bubbles are CO2 or not. However, I don't see any of my livestock coming to the top to breathe though.----------------

Why?
Don't worry too much steve...I have lots of bubbles at the surface of my tank due to lots of bubbling from plants [] ..looks freaky to some people here but is a good indicator to me that photosythnesis is taking place..which means good amount of light and CO2. [
