give it a shot. it's perfect food for both fry and adults...i'm using it as one of my staple foods now...feed once a day for adult + fry, then flakes for the other daily feeding for adults only. every night see my fry with orange bellies and active 100g lasts forever too...with my current feeding regime on 2 apisto tanks (used to be 3 tanks when i was raising a separate tank of caca fry), i'm not even halfway through my bottle, even though i overfeed to try and deplete it faster

Hmmm. I'm feeding my apisto fries and female with live bbs everyday. Now adding tetrabits to supplement too. Any idea where decap bs are available?

    Nano tank for fries

Just setup another nano tank for future apistogramma fries.
    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=33290
Tank size 28x18x20 cm. Quite small due to space limitation.
I am putting it right below my current Apisto tank.
As the tank too small, water condition might not easy to maintain.
Hope can work well for me.

Try not to do any water changes or anything that disturbs the tank during spawning, might scare the pair and end up having the fries beng eaten....

Hope to see your fries soon!!

    Update. Female apisto attitude change.
Last 2 days guarding the cave tightly only few second away from cave usually.
But for today i found it swim away from cave quite frequent and back to cave a few seconds then out again.
Is it possible that eggs eaten up by the female? Currently male keeping at the quarantine cage. Any idea?

If she is going back to the cave, the fries should still be fine.

How's the attitude like if female eaten up the eggs/fries? No longer going back to the cave?

Yup, you will see her swimming about and some of them losses their brood caring colouration.

it sounds about right actually. your eggs should have hatched and turned into wrigglers. i've noticed the same behaviour with my apistos as well, whereby the female is not so protective once the eggs reach wriggler stage. she'll tend to venture out more now but still head back to check on her brood once in awhile. is she still in her breeding colouration?

if the female has eaten her eggs/fry, she will no longer be displaying her breeding colouration and would probably not be heading back to the cave so often

agreed. as long as she keeps popping in and out of the cave, your wrigglers should still be fine so don't worry!!!

Yes. She is still in breeding colouration. Yellowish with black ventrals. But the frequency of popping in and out cave reduced. And also swim more far away from cave. Mostly stay outside and only stay in cave a few seconds then come out again. Hope everything still fine.....

don't need to stay there all day to watch if the wrigglers are gone, they're gone anyway...

i still stick by what i think though. the eggs to wriggler transition is when the female will start foraging around again...happened in all 3 of my breeding pairs every time they've managed to get wrigglers. the times my female ate the eggs/wrigglers/fry (i've had all 3 happen) she loses her breeding colouration almost immediately. if you've removed all potential predators from the tank, you're fine and just get ready to raise the fry well

Yup they should be fine. In fact my female was swimming outside her cave since day 2 whacking the dithers, only occasionally heading back to the cave.
