Hi guys, any one know where to repair a solenoid? Mine broke down last night and CO2 kept pumping into the tank throughtout the night. Thanks to one of my yamatos which sadly jumped to its death that I quickly realised this serious problem. So far, no other casulty.[:]
I learnt a valuable lesson: always have yamato shrimps in your planted tank.

Hmmmm... I always thought that if a solenoid breaks down, it'll cut off the CO2 as it needs electricity to keep the valve open... unless the mechanical parts got stuck.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I also thought so, Vincent. However after I unpluged the connection, the gas still continued to pump into the tank. I got no choice but to turn off the main valve myself in order to stop the flow.

sounds like a mechanical fault to me.

does the solenoid get heated up when it's on?
if it still does, it's fine.

take the solenoid activated valve apart.
check if the rubber at the end of the plunger is harden or worn out.

if it looks ok, give it a good cleaning, fix back and try.

Mok is right... open the valve. Probably got sticky and jammed at open position.

To check your solenoid, use a resistance meter (or a multimeter) and check how many ohms. It should be showing around 40~100 ohms. If there is a reading, replacing a new solenoid does not solve your problem.
    Cheers!!
