    Horn snail?

    Zebra snail?

    I need some advice ...

I just brought these 2 species of snail today for natural tank maintenance.
I understand from the lfs that they can't breed in freshwater and don't eat/harm plants?

Is that true? Do they harm shrimps.

It is because I have a planted shrimp tank. Thanks.

First snail is probably Clithon spp, possibly C. diadema or C. corona.

Second snail is probably Neritina natalensis.

They are supposedly freshwater nerites, mainly eat algae and dead plant/animal matters. They aren't predators, so will leave your shrimps alone.

These snails do lay eggs in freshwater, but generally, not many nerite species do so. They are gonochoristic, and not hermaphroditic.

It is said that larvaes hatch from the eggs and need brackishwater to survive.
