Just got some elatine from Teo, and planted them abt 4 days back. The plants looks healthy but is growing upwards instead of outwards.
Is this a symptom of poor light condition again

Mine is a 2ft, with a 36 watt light. ET is directly under the light, unblocked.

    Anyone has any ideas?

not enuff light lah, the elatine in my 2 ft grow with 72W.

I was wondering too, i am planting elatine in one half of the front lawn and glosso on the other, and elatine seems to be more invasive. Another else has observed how competition between the two will end up?

    Budak, interesting... keep us updated?

I had some ET patch revive amongst some Sagittaria recently. Quite a nice effect. I've purposely planted ET between my Sagittaria in a rescape last week. I hoping it turns out
    well.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

In my experience, other than lighting, the way E triadra grows to some extend depends on the way you plant too. Try to plant with the stem horizontal. Press down any stem that start to grow upwards. That should help a bit.

i find no diff the way it's planted. As long as the light is bright enuf, the stems will grow flat along the surface. After a while, succeeding layers result.

simon, if my tank salad bowl, your tank is echino rojak!

Originally, my ET was growing flat on the substrate. One day, I finger itchy so I tried to grow ET like a stem plant. I tore them out and planted so that most of the stem is hang free and almost vertical. The whole bunch grow upwards to about 15cm tall.[]
